Polaroid SX-70 Photos (April to August 2002)

Smith St. Station, Brooklyn, 6/1/02. You can't really see it but the Statue of Liberty is centered in the picture and is off in the distance. I didn't take very many Polaroids of the New York subways (I used my Yashica instead) but I've always liked the industrial feel and composition of the tracks and station. Maybe it comes from a childhood in sterile suburbs but there's a gritty, romantic feel to subway stations that seems contradictory.
