Soul Sides Vol. 1 To me, Joe Bataan is one of the most remarkable musical talents to ever come out of New York. He was a pioneer in boogaloo, Latin soul, salsa and hip-hop. I couldn't do this comp without at least one of his songs and I went with his original composition, "Ordinary Guy," a song that he's recorded m any times throughout this career. This version from his 1975 Afro-Filipino album on Salsoul. Sample.
